Hi! Everyone, today I have brought another healthy and versatile recipe prepared from sweet potatoes. Sweet potatoes are called shakarkand in Hindi. This root vegetable grows in almost every tropical regions nowadays around the world. They are found in different colours around the world which varies from red, purple and white. The flesh inside give them a distinct aroma when cooked. Many people associate sweet potatoes with normal potatoes, but both are different. Potatoes belong to nightshade' family which includes tomatoes, bell pepper, aubergine etc. Sweet potatoes are tuberous vegetable which comes from the family of morning glory.

This vegetable may not always be orange from within and could be different. Before we start with our recipe let's have a look at some of the amazing benefits of this versatile vegetable which is healthy, nutritious and filling.
Prevents diabetes
Shakarkand aids to control the glucose levels in the body with natural plant chemical found in it. This wonderful vegetable is also known to prevent diabetes.

Ingredients (serve - 2 pax)
500 grams/ 2 cups boiled and cut sweet potatoes
1/4th cup grated beetroot (optional)
1 tbsp tamarind paste
1 tbsp jaggery powder
1 tsp dried/fresh pudina/mint leaves
1 tsp rock salt
1/4th tsp dried ginger powder
1/4th tsp red chilli powder
1 tsp jeera powder
1/4th tsp black pepper powder
1/2 cup water
Method
Put 1/2 cup water in a heavy bottomed pan. Add tamarind paste, jaggery and mint.
Stir well and cook. Add the dry masalas also and let it come to boil.
After 2 minutes add the sweet potatoes and let the tamarind sauce coat it well. Cook for 1.5 minutes.
Lastly add the beetroot and cook for a minute. Your healthy chaat is ready for fast.
