Chana murmure, our good old healthy and easy snack in 8 minutes

Puffed rice is also called as murmure, murmura and muri in India. Some of the popular street food are prepared from this like bhel puri in Mumbai. Murmure are very light and can be taken as a snack in between the meals or as a healthy breakfast.

One can prepare murmure snack quite easily. It takes only few minutes and the end result is delicious snack. For many Indian homes murmura are complete food and they are readily available in Kirana stores and supermarkets.

Today I am going to show you how you can make an amazing, delicious and mouth-watering and quick snacking recipe which is prepared from puffed rice. It takes only 8 minutes to prepare this healthy and quick snack at home which can satisfy your hunger. It took 5 minutes to chop and gather all the ingredients and 3 minutes to prepare this snacking namkeen. This delicious snack is prepared in a unique and healthier way by adding sprouts, chana, dry mint leaves, chopped coriander, seeds, onions and tomatoes.

I am sure you must have tasted the amazing and popular street food prepared from murmure. Now it’s time to taste this amazing and healthy snacking namkeen which I am sure you would love to give it a try.     Ingredients for Murmure snacks (serve - 2 pax)

    2 cups murmure

    1/4th cup roasted chana

    1/4th cup moong dal sprouts

    1/4th cup finely chopped onion

    1/4th cup finely chopped tomatoes

    1/4th cup finely chopped coriander leaves

    2 tbsp dried or fresh pudina leaves (optional)

    1 tsp salt

    1 tsp jeera powder

    1/2 tsp red chilli powder

    1/2 tsp chaat masala

    1/4th tsp turmeric powder

    For tempering

    1 tbsp oil

    1 tsp jeera

    2 tsp sesame seeds

    Handful of soft curry patta

    Method

    Heat oil in a heavy bottomed pan.

    Add the tempering ingredients and quickly stir for 10 seconds.

    Add the seasoning and immediately add the murmure. Stir and roast for a minute.

    Add the chana and roast for another minute.

    Add the pudina leaves and mix and put off the gas.

    If you are not going to eat this dish immediately you can stop at this stage and add the sprouts etc. just before eating otherwise the murmure will lose their crunchiness and become soggy.

    Since we were going to consume immediately, I added the chopped tomatoes, sprouts and onions etc. in the middle of the pan and roasted them for a few seconds and mixed well.

    Your complete and healthy anytime snack is ready. You may add green chillies finely chopped if you like it hot.
