Healthy Maggi Noodles in 2 Minutes

Maggi is one of the most relished dishes, of course children do love it but so do adults. So here I am offering the healthy version. Let's start off with our favorite dish.

Maggi-noodles

At my home there is a particular day on which I prepare them. It is usually a Sunday and I along with my family usually prefer it for dinner. There are some who relish them at breakfast, while there are others who snack on them in between meals. Camping outdoors with friends it is always there on the menu as it can be cooked in 2 minutes by anyone. A visit to any hill stations one comes across  numerous small shops dotting the roadside, all selling noodles they are not only a source of livelihood for local people but a snack and gupshup time between friends. In between when there was a short time ban this lip smacking dish was missed by everyone.

Who doesn't want to enjoy hot and yummy noodles along with hot piping tea in the clean, cool and crisp hill station environment. Come winter they are relished with hot soup and they are my favourite too in that season. But they are enjoyed by everyone around the year.

    Who invented it?

It was invented by a Swiss entrepreneur named Julius Maggi in mid- nineteenth century in Switzerland. He had a strong vision to create something new and tasty that everyone would like.

When was it launched in India ?

It wasn't marketed as it is sold in its present packaging. Launched in India in late 1983 it was introduced in big packets first which at that time was not affordable by everyone ,so the company introduced smaller packets was an instant hit and loved by everyone. They were initially positioned for working women, everyone wasn't open to the concept of instant noodles, but gradually the instant noodles were on everyones dinning table.

What are Maggi Noodles made off?

They are usually made up of  wheat flour, edible vegetable oil, salt and other ingredients that we all know. They also have small sachet of masala inside every packet that gives it tantalizing flavour.

How Maggi Came Into Our Lives

It was introduced into our lives by Nestle. It was famous only in United States of America, France and few other foreign countries before being introduced to Indian markets.

    Is it suitable for Vegans?

It is not for vegans because they may contain ingredients derived from milk , soya, wheat which may not acceptable to vegans.

How many Types Of Maggi are there?

There are many varieties of noodles available in the market , in India  the most sought after and relished are the masala and cuppa noodles.

Can we cook noodles in microwave?

Yes you can!, Just keep it in microwave safe container along with pre mixed water and masala and cook for 2 minutes. Do not add too much water as it can boil over and spoil your microwave, therefore make sure  microwave utensil you are using is adequately big to prevent spill over. When it has reached boiling point open the microwave stir  and continue cooking.  Once cooked garnish it with grated cheese along with some sauce.

    Are they healthy to eat?

Even though they are  marketed as nutritious and rich in protein, they do not contain fibre or nutrients  and are not recommended on daily basis as it contains refined flour, high level of sodium.
